Musings of a Gardener:
Fleeting Moments of Fragile Beauty

“to plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow”

Peonies...

fleeting moments of such fragile beauty

After the daffodils and tulips have disappeared it is the peonies time to shine.  They are one of the first signs of impending summer in my garden and one of the first to disappear.  I usually smell them before I see them. I open the windows in the morning and the sweet scent wafts into our living room.  It's a fragrance I wait for all year long and savor - I sit on my back steps, close my eyes and just breathe.

Peony week is over.  They disappeared in a cascade of petals during a sudden rainstorm.

I miss them.
